July 31, 2012

This young lady is so sweet. She left a note on my bed last night that just brought tears to my eyes. It was a good thing. She noticed that I have been a little sad about some things and just wanted me to know that she noticed and wanted to just let me know that she loved me! Today all day I have thought about how special each of my children are but especially this little one. She is often busy with her own self made "drama" and it was so touching to see her reach out side of herself and love me! Today mattered because I was loved special with a note on my pillow!

My Noah is a special boy! He is always so full of energy and a lot of the time all that energy is very overwhelming for me. He is a good boy. He tries hard but sometimes his energy gets the best of him. I am very happy for all he has accomplished in his 16 years of life - tonight he earns his Life and six merit badges for scouts. He has always wanted to be an eagle scout and he really does love the scouting program. He now just has to do his eagle project and a few more merit badges and he will have accomplished his goal. Today matters because a lot of energy went into earning all that he has up to this point and we get to celebrate with him tonight at the court of honor the scouts will have!

Today the sun was shining. Actually it has been shining now for five days. We get lots of rain. I love the rain, it keeps everything so green and pretty. But there comes a time when the sun needs to shine! Because the sun shines I have to water the flowers. This is a huge task for me not because there are lots and lots of flowers - but because of the responsibility to make sure I reach each and every flower. I love flowers and it pleases me so much when I see the beautiful blooms all around my house. This little gift from my Heavenly Father brings me great joy! I love that among the thorns and thistles there are beautiful blooms. So it is with my life, it is filled with thorns and thistles but I am surrounded by beautiful blooms. All I need to do is look for them. I need to recognize the beauty around me and find joy in blooms. Today was hard for me - a lot of thorns were thrown my way - but I choose to see the blooms! Today mattered because Heavenly Father wanted to bless me with beauty!

Look at this - four generations of girls. I love this picture with my mom, daughter and grand daughter. As I start to  work again on this blog of "Every Day Matters" I want to start with this day - the day this picture was taken. I am so lucky to have my mom living so close after so long (30 some years) of her living far from me. I am so lucky to have one of my daughters living so close and especially lucky to have this little grand daughter in my life and that I can see her most any day I want to. I know the time will come someday that she might not be that close so I am just loving it and enjoying each and everyday that these ladies are in my life. Not pictured and just as important are my seven other daughters. Those little ladies also mean the world to me. And I cannot get away without mentioning my three sons. Even with all the hard days and work it is to be a mother I should never let a day go by that I do not thank my Heavenly Father for these blessings in my life! It is because of them the "Every Day Matters"!

Sunday - December 20

After church today we had our extended Weitzel family party at our house. Everyone was there except for Chelsea who is still in Iceland and Rachel. It was quite a house full but it was very fun. I made enchilada casserole and mexican rice and Ashleigh brought a salad. Of course, we had dessert. I think everyone had a great time. This has been a tradition for forever with David's family. A couple of years ago we started doing it the weekend before Christmas so that we could do Christmas day with our own families. Today mattered because all the family was gathered together to share Christmas!

Saturday - December 19

We were the nativity for our ward Christmas party. David was Samuel the Lamanite calling everyone to repentance and then there was some music and while people sang we came out on stage and did the nativity. Chad sang a song. He did a great job. After the ward party Ashleigh and Nick wanted to do a picture with Jonathan as the baby. It really was fun to have everyone there except for Chelsea and Dan and Seth and Anita. Chelsea was in Iceland and Seth had a prior commitment. WE borrowed costumes from my friend Linda. The dinner was fun. The kids got to see Santa and then we ended with this program. It was fun to have the family together loving, laughing and having a great time together. Today mattered because as a family we felt the true meaning of Christmas!

Friday - December 18

Today was a Jonathan day. I have been watching him a lot this month. He is getting so darn cute with the things he can do and say. He just beginning to talk and communicate. He sure does know how to let you know what he wants. He is starting to say Grandma. I think it sounds a lot like mom but Toshia says it is different than what he calls her. She also says he says it that way because everyone around here calls me mom. I am so lucky to have him my life. Today mattered because Jonathan was in it!
